Either my laziness has gone up, or the amount of free time I have has gone down. Pretty sure it&#8217;s the former.<\/p>\n<p>What happened in 2014:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wrote 14 blog posts (same as 14 in 2013).<\/li>\n<li>Wrote 8 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/category\/fiction\">short stories<\/a> (up 33% from 6 in 2013).<\/li>\n<li>Read 38 books (up 238% from 16 in 2013). Favorites: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0316055433\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0316055433&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=evillemur-20&#038;linkId=D6QCTT5QVHKMHQWO\"><em>The Goldfinch<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0812982622\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0812982622&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=evillemur-20&#038;linkId=GZPDRJ7KXNHUPUKJ\"><em>The Orphan Master&#8217;s Son<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0486278077\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0486278077&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=evillemur-20&#038;linkId=XRESA4DBCA5SDPXR\"><em>The Picture of Dorian Grey<\/em><\/a>. Least favorites: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0143038419\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0143038419&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=evillemur-20&#038;linkId=FWX4W6LJFTJANSAD\"><em>Eat, Pray, Love<\/em><\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1503280292\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=1503280292&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=evillemur-20&#038;linkId=DWPMYES6BA4BD4I4\"><em>Little Women<\/em><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Took 2814 pictures that I kept on my computer (down 31% from 4106 in 2013). I didn&#8217;t leave the country in 2014, so maybe that&#8217;s why.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/category\/baking\">Baked<\/a> at least 54 items (up 10% from 49 in 2013).<\/li>\n<li>Lost $104 playing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/category\/poker\">poker<\/a> (compared to losing $1344 in 2013). Well, at least I cut my losses by 92%!<\/li>\n<li>Lost $1620 through other forms of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/category\/gambling\">gambling<\/a> (compared to losing $61 in 2013). OK so it&#8217;s probably bad that my losses went up by over 25X, but I was playing a lot of video poker to get casino status, which let me stay in Vegas a couple of times for much cheaper. Was it worth it? Maybe&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Well, I suppose my life hasn&#8217;t changed too much in the past year. Still in the same house. Still have the same job. But I&#8217;m still in fairly good health, which I am very thankful for.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve managed to wait until the end of January to recap the previous year.
