The post numbering isn&#8217;t consecutive! My <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/1\">first post<\/a> had ID 1. But then my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ryotakahashi.com\/blog\/archives\/6\">second post<\/a> had ID 6! What happened to 2 through 5? Now this post probably isn&#8217;t even going to have ID 7. I don&#8217;t like this. Now I can&#8217;t just look at the post ID and figure out which post number it actually is.<\/p>\n<p>Doing a web search for this reveals that I&#8217;m not the only anal one that this issue bothers. Wouldn&#8217;t it be really easy to make it so that the post number gets incremented every time one is published? But no, apparently WordPress assigns automatically-saved revisions their own separate IDs.
