Two days on WordPress, and I’ve already realized something that I don’t like. The post numbering isn’t consecutive! My first post had ID 1. But then my second post had ID 6! What happened to 2 through 5? Now this post probably isn’t even going to have ID 7. I don’t like this. Now I can’t just look at the post ID and figure out which post number it actually is.
Doing a web search for this reveals that I’m not the only anal one that this issue bothers. Wouldn’t it be really easy to make it so that the post number gets incremented every time one is published? But no, apparently WordPress assigns automatically-saved revisions their own separate IDs. I’m strangely distraught.
